To Eric Gagne: Retire and then never return to Boston

October 13, 2007 by John Guilfoil

After loading the bases in game one and losing game two, Eric Gagne’s career in Boston must come to and end.

The two seasons he’s missing from his career due to injuries clearly have left some residual effects.

Either that or he’s a complete head-case.

He can’t pitch for the Boston Red Sox.

Gore wins Nobel Prize!

October 12, 2007 by John Guilfoil

Former Vice President and Al Gore has won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize along with the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change for their work to educate the public on Global Warming.

The award citation partially read: Al Gore “is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted,”

Gore was traveling with his wife and released a statement saying: “We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity. It is also our greatest opportunity to lift global consciousness to a higher level.”

The question remains. Will Al Gore run for president again?

Chicken drinks Chinese bottled water, dies

September 13, 2007 by John Guilfoil

As if there weren’t enough problems with Chinese products.

According to Reuters, a member of a Chinese family on the island of Hainan vomited blood after drinking a bottle of water.

They were sure the water was tainted, so they fed the rest of the water to a hapless chicken, who immediately choked and died.

They fed the luckless chicken the rest of the water to see what would happen, the Beijing News said, citing a report in a local paper. “The result was the chicken died within a minute,” it said, showing a picture of a man holding a plastic bottle squatting over the crumpled body of the bird.

Authorities were investigating, Reuters reported.

FOXBORO – Disturbing and unfounded rumors about the health of Patriots’ linebacker Tedy Bruschi were dispelled Tuesday evening by the team’s mediaPlaying too many play free poker online hands gives more knowledge of the game. relations director, Stacey James.

James told The Sun Chronicle that rumors claiming that the 12th-year veteran had collapsed and died were indeed false, and that he had spoken to Bruschi personally Monday night after the linebacker had received concerned calls from teammates at his North Attleboro home inquiring about his condition.

“He was watching television with his family,” James said.

James said the rumors started Monday with an e-mail sent to an unnamed media reporter. Several newspapers and television stations, including The Sun Chronicle, received phone calls from concerned fans Tuesday as the rumor spread throughout the region.

Bruschi suffered a stroke after the Pro Bowl in February 2005, but returned to action midway through the following season. He was the Patriots’ leading tackler last year.

For more details, see Thursday’s editions of The Sun Chronicle.
