Well, it’s not crack, meth, pot, acid tabs or prescription drug cases, but U.S. customs announced today, the recovery of $3 million worth of stolen wedding dresses as they were being smuggled over the border in Arizona.
In November 2006, a trailer filled with wedding dresses destined for a breast cancer charity event was heading from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles when it was stolen in Scottsdale, Ariz. The callousness of this theft was reported nationally and led to an outpouring of support and contributions to the charity, Making Memories. CBP officers at the Nogales port of entry in Arizona recently examined a truck and trailer being returned to the United States from Mexico. Investigation into the taped-over markings on the trailer and contents lead to the discovery that the trailer and wedding dresses were in fact the stolen items.
Members of the media were invited to a photo op, which promises to be entertaining tomorrow.
